Climbing Foundations I & II

Details: Northern Star Council will be offering Climbing Training for Volunteers - Foundations Level I & II at Base Camp Camp on September 27-29, 2019 This is a combined Level I & II Training that is required to open a climbing tower in Northern Star Council as well as the pre-requisite for COPE and Natural Rock training sessions. Class covers: The basics of climbing, Belaying and Tower Setup, Tower Management, Adaptive climbing techniques, Climbing Rescues and more. At the end of the class you will be certified as a Level II Climbing Instructor and can open and manage programs at any of our Councils Towers.

NRA Range Safety Officer

Details: To qualify as any BSA Range Master the candidate needs to be at least eighteen years of age and attend the appropriate BSA Range Master class. There is no prior experience necessary. This certification needs to be renewed every two years by re-taking the class again. please bring a bag lunch it will be a working lunch. Leave No Trace Trainer Couse

The Trainer Course is an informative fun 2-day session on the ethics and practice of minimum impact recreation and travel. Course participants learn skills and teaching techniques through discussions and demos in a rustic outdoor setting. The course is for BSA adults and youth at least 14 years of age. It prepares you to reduce impacts on camp outs and high adventure be an Outdoor Ethics Guide or Adviser. Cost: $45. includes food, materials, camping fee, LNT Trainer strip. Big Foot Playbook available for $15. What to Bring: tent, sleeping bag, pad, small day pack for hiking, mess kit and utensils, water bottle, bug spray, rain gear and usual personal gear, etc and props for teaching Additional information will be sent prior to the course. Pre-req: You must take the online LNT Awareness course ( prior to coming to class; bring your training certificate.

GRD Fall Super Training

Details: Are you a new scout leader or are you thinking about taking on a new role? Join us in October for Great River District's annual Fall Super Training Event. This annual event provides training for all Cub and Scouts BSA adult leader positions as well as a Den Leader training session for scouts. Most sessions occur one of the two evenings with the exception of SM/ASM which requires attendance both evenings so make sure you check the schedule/registration to confirm the correct date. For additional information on specific sessions and/or to register please go to the Northern Star Council Training page: . Fall University of Scouting

The University of Scouting is a fun-filled, hands-on opportunity to network with other Scouters, and is truly a learning adventure. This one-day training event is designed for all adult and youth leaders, regardless of experience. Make sure to tell your Scouts about the Youth Leadership College. This college provides leadership training courses for all Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scout aged youth in a variety of areas.
