Want to run one of Northern Star Council's climbing towers for your unit or district? Then you're in luck! This Climbing Foundations Level I training will give you the skills and certification you need to help run a climbing program at any of the council's towers.

Training Details

What You'll Learn

  • How to set up a climbing tower and releasable rappel
  • New warm-up and initiative games
  • BSA climbing and rappelling standards
  • How to supervise climbing and rappelling activities

What You Need

  • Good judgement
  • Ability to work well with youth
  • Be at least age 18 to become an Artificial Climbing Wall Level I Instructor (valid for 1 year)
  • Be age 16-17 to become an Artificial Climbing Wall Instructor In Training (valid for 1 year)
  • Familiarity with Belay On manual (available at scouting.org/Home/OutdoorProgram/COPE)
